Perhaps one of the best things about having Indian roots is our unapologetic love for colors, and given I’m the rainbow sheep of our family, he’s clearly filled me with all the colors of our family. I grew up in Odisha, with a large extended family and almost every year some member of our family would get married. Marriage ceremonies back then in Bhubaneswar and the villages around were a lot different from the ones we experience in cities. There used to be drawings on the walls, lots of glitter, the sent of marigold and rajnigandha in the air, fluorescent lights, food and of course, over a thousand people. Art’s always been a huge part of my life and Kolor me Kitsch is my ode to my roots, the colors and the madness I grew up with.
